TF93 Wildfire Scenario
More actions

Task Force 93, as the humanitarian wing of the Fourth Fleet, finds itself tasked with carrying out evacuations, providing aid and rendering various levels of support to systems throughout the Cestus Sector Block after Gorn attacks. The initial reports from ships already in the area are of communication black outs, a risk of Gorn attacks, stellar phenomena and individuals wishing to take advantage of a profitable situation.
The Verity, Mercy, and Cunningham have been forward deployed to the Samda system to set-up a staging area for relief efforts. Crews from the Mercy have set up field hospitals and emergency shelters on Samda III for refugees. Through triage of the situation, the Verity has assessed three nearby systems requiring Task Force 93’s immediate attention.
Demeter System
The Demeter System provides a mix of various produce and livestock to several nearby systems. The recent solar activity has caused environmental disruptions at a scale so large that it has overwhelmed the systems ability to respond to it. Crops are being destroyed by violent storms, drought and flooding, livestock are acting outside of their normal behavior, and the guilds established during more prosperous times are now fighting over their dwindling reserves and who deserves assistance due to the growing possibility of famine. If the system’s agricultural infrastructure collapses completely, the effects will be felt far beyond the system itself.
Orison System
Likewise, several planets in the Orison system sent out distress calls and haven’t been heard from since. The last communications received suggested that the various survivors are sheltering in caves or fortified areas. The Verity is still in communication with Orison II and Orison IV, these two worlds require a full scale evacuation due to the likelihood of being targeted by the Gorn. The mission here is simple - save as many lives as possible using whatever means are available. To prepare for what lies ahead, captains should hark back to their academy days and take note of the Kobayashi Maru.
Vespera System
The danger extends further beyond life and limb, there is a group of researchers working on increasing crop yields in the Vespera System, this research shows significant promise for the sector with yields increasing by up to 30%. However, they are demanding to be the top priority for relief efforts and are threatening to take their research to the Romulan Free State should they be relegated to second fiddle. With the Demeter systems agricultural output already under threat, losing this research to the Free State could significantly complicate the sector’s recovery.
Encounters
These concepts below are story prompts any writer can use to tell their story. Some of the TF93 encounters are unique and are labelled as such, which means any member interested in writing one of these prompts should contact their TF staff first. It is perfectly acceptable to use these ideas as inspiration for a similar story using a different location or ship.
Those not labelled are non-unique, and any member could write them without consulting with TF staff.
- Radiation from a nearby star may have destroyed fragile crops. This loss threatens the colony’s already dwindling food supply and is raising tensions among neighbors who are hoarding what remains.
- Stellar phenomena has knocked the propulsion systems of a nearby convoy offline, they have requested assistance repairing their systems but not all can be fixed.
- With stellar phenomena causing communications failures and system malfunctions, conventional means of navigation have become unreliable. Federation vessels have been tasked with establishing visual navigation points to assist ships through hazardous regions of space.
- A ship carrying critical supplies has disappeared between the Samda and the Orison systems. The last transmission stated it was under attack, but not by whom.
- As worsening conditions force evacuations, displaced civilians are transported to Samda III. With resources stretched thin and tensions growing between refugees and Samda III’s residents, local authorities are experiencing difficulty in maintaining order and stability. (Unique - Claimed 10-18-2026)
- A colony has refused evacuation attempts despite an increasingly dangerous situation that threatens the colony's survival. A skeleton crew of colonists remains to reinforce critical infrastructure and defend their home.
