IKS Koraga

From Bravo Fleet

The IKS Koraga (IKS-841) is a Mat'Ha-class modern Raptor Destroyer, operated by House Koloth of the Klingon Empire, currently assigned as an attaché to the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 47 under a cross-command exchange program. It is under the Command of Captain Roh'Khan of House Koloth, patrolling between the Meridor and D'Ghor Nebula, covering Gorn, Federation, Romulan Republic, and Shackleton Expanse of the Klingon Border.

Design and Layout

For the article, see Mat'Ha Class.

Klingon ships do not generally prioritize comfort, yet the Mat’ha-class, due to its designation as a primary space combatant, rather than troop transport, is afforded more amenities than most due to its larger size and small crew complement. With various holodecks, recreation and training rooms, and mess halls, it does feel far more luxurious, by Klingon standards, than the previous generation of vessels.

Deck 5: Engineering

Out of the 9 decks that comprise the Koraga, the central most deck, Deck 5, houses the ship's massive Warp Core. Unlike the vertical installation of Starfleet Ships, the Mat’ha Warp core is designed to fit horizontally, stretching the aft section and most of the neck portion of the ship, and is able to be manually ejected out of a hatch in the aft if need arises. Deck 5 holds various crawlspaces allowing for quick access to key ship systems, weapons emplacements, and engines.

But the most crucial aspect of Deck 5 is that only the Engineers, the First Officer, or the Captain dares tread its halls. Ruled with an iron wrench, the Ship Master aboard the Koraga treats Deck 5 as his own personal domain and defends it viciously against all intrusion. The only traversal of non-permitted personnel is allowed in the very far walkways along the hull, and even then one dares not linger.

Qav’tach (Last Bar)

Life aboard a warship is never a guarantee of safety. Every meal and every drink may very well be your last. With this in mind, the only indulgence found aboard the Koraga is in the Qav’tach, (Translated to: the “Last Bar”). The Qav’tach is a large social drinking lounge located on Deck 4 at the fore of the ship. It is designed for celebration and access; it is set apart from the normal mess halls by being stocked with non-replicated provisions, and is always stocked well with pristine alcohol and fresh bloodwine.

Working personnel are forbidden from entering the Qav’tach while on active duty, and any officer who overindulges before their assignments will literally be ‘taken out back and beaten’, then sent back to work! However, this serves as a respite for warriors stuck out on long border assignments who might not have the privilege of rest stops. The attendants of the Qav’tach take their roles seriously, bringing the best experience to the warriors who come here for rest, and they will even distribute hot food and drink through the ship during times of extended assignment.

Qawno’Habnagh (Remembrance Stone)

Tucked away on Deck 8, in the aft section of the ship, is a Cargo Room that no one goes to. An overflow of supplies will stack in the hallways before they ever clutter this room. The large room could accommodate half the crew if need be, but only one thing lies inside. The Qawno’Habnagh (Translated to: the Remembrance Stone)

A 7-ton block of solid stone from the mines of Qo’noS has been expertly cut out and fit into the room; its jagged and uneven edges protrude in stark contrast to the smooth, forward canvas stained in red with several jagged carvings written on its face. All who serve aboard the Koraga pledge their allegiance to this stone by cutting their hand and smearing their blood upon its surface, mixing with the blood of every other warrior who has or ever will serve.

The Names, Cut into the surface, are of those very warriors who have died honorably in service aboard the ship, to always be remembered by those who served with them, and those who come after.

Desecration of this room is punishable by death.
