Crossroads

From Bravo Fleet

Crossroads was the eighth Bravo Fleet Fleet Action which ran from 5 April 2026 to 18 May 2025. The campaign centred on helping Displaced individuals and ships from across the multiverse arrive in the prime universe. The Fourth Fleet is ordered to help them return to their own universes/timelines before the Loom arrives to cause havoc.

Story

Background

Across the known galaxy, people are disappearing. Rooms they walked into suddenly empty, beds not slept in, trips unfinished. Sometimes, they vanish before people’s very eyes, active and talking one moment, then gone in a blink. Sometimes, whole starships and their crews have disappeared. No pattern. No explanation.

Starfleet’s investigations have found little. It took days before the most thorough sensor sweep of a missing Federation councilmember’s office found a clue: micro-fluctuations in quantum resonance, decaying fast. But this explained nothing.

Until there was instead an unexpected appearance: a visit to the office of Fleet Admiral Ramar by former Starfleet Lieutenant Wesley Crusher, now a powerful interdimensional being – a ‘Traveler.’ The lives of those missing are not the only thing at stake. The entire multiverse is in danger.

The cause remains unclear. What is known is that a wave of subspace-temporal radiation emanated from near the Klingon-Federation border. On its own, it was harmless, but in the vicinity was Starbase 80 – and the interdimensional rift there stabilised in 2382 by the USS Cerritos. The portal has acted as a lens, focusing and amplifying the disruption – and causing these people to go missing. As of now, Starfleet has not identified the cause of this wave.

The missing people are nowhere in the known universe, but somewhere else entirely. These individuals, referred to by Crusher as ‘the Displaced,’ have been plucked from their dimension and scattered across other quantum realities and their timelines. Crusher has furnished the Fourth Fleet with a list of the Displaced, the quantum frequency of the reality in which they are lost, and whatever information on their location he’s gleaned.

Wesley Crusher also comes with a warning. The displacement has disturbed the Loom, trans-dimensional entities drawn to paradoxes in time and reality. Whether scavengers feasting on the broken or some natural means of the multiverse’s regulation, the Loom will hunt down the Displaced. They do not kill those they find, but erase them from existence, all memories and records lost as if they had never lived. And, Crusher warns, should the Displaced remain lost for too long, the disruption will become too much for the Loom to bear. At that point, they will erase that reality.

Without finding the Displaced, the Loom will destroy every reality they touch. Including the prime universe.

Starfleet has been approached for three reasons, Crusher explains. The first is that there is no organisation in the multiverse he knows or trusts better to correct this calamity. The second is that the prime reality is the origin point of the displacement, and most individuals have vanished from or to this dimension.

The third is that the Starfleet of the prime universe can help, can travel between realities without unreliable technological aid. The portal at Starbase 80 has remained stable since the initial incident and allows any Starfleet ship to venture into another reality. Armed with Crusher’s list of the Displaced and how to find them, the journey should scientifically be hardly any more difficult than navigating travel at warp.

Of course, that answers the question of getting to another reality. It does not account for navigating this alternate dimension, finding the Displaced, and bringing them home – before the Loom can destroy them or the entire timeline. Furthermore, Crusher warns that some displacements have not been a one-way trip. Some of the Displaced may have been ‘swapped’ for their doppelgangers, who now find themselves in the prime universe. They, too, must be found and brought home.

The disruption has produced a secondary phenomenon designated by Starfleet Science as ‘quantum ripples.’ Across realities, the thinning boundaries between dimensions have caused individuals to briefly experience other dimensions: to perceive visions and experience memories from lives they have not lived. Most ripples are fleeting and disorienting, while some may be overwhelming, intense, and prolonged. Crusher warns that the Loom may also be drawn to these disturbances.

These are challenges the Fourth Fleet must face for themselves.

Starfleet has issued the following orders:

  • To venture through the interdimensional portal at Starbase 80, to find the Displaced and bring them back to the prime reality;
  • To cause as little disruption as possible to the reality and timeline itself;
  • To evade the Loom, but prevent them from destroying individuals or realities;
  • To locate Displaced individuals in the prime reality, and return them to their own dimension.

Outcome

The events surrounding the quantum fissures left a lasting impact across the Alpha, Beta, and Delta Quadrants, as Starfleet and its allies worked to contain the dangerous instability that threatened multiple realities. While the phenomenon was ultimately brought under control, the aftermath reshaped political relationships, exposed deep vulnerabilities, and left countless questions about the nature of the universe unanswered. For the first time in two decades, the work at Starbase 80 increased hugely as its crew helped so many return to their own realities.

Among the most significant developments was the work undertaken by the crew of the USS Endeavour on Boreth. Initially dispatched to provide legal support to Commander Cortez during the murder trial before the Klingon High Council, Endeavour soon uncovered a far greater truth surrounding their leader, Chancellor Toral and the unstable Boreth time crystals. Through diplomacy, investigation, and considerable sacrifice, Captain Valance and her crew helped prevent a political collapse within the Klingon Empire while also stabilising the crystals, which they discovered were at the heart of the displacement phenomenon. Their actions ultimately saw the real Chancellor Toral restored, Commander Cortez freed, and the Loom driven back, though not before Endeavour herself was pushed to the brink of destruction.

Known Universes Discovered

The following universes/timelines were discovered during this crisis by various Starfleet and allied vessels:

  • Alternate Reality Terra 181120 – A reality where the social and political structures of Earth’s Regency Period endured into the modern era, shaping the Federation and Starfleet into a rigid aristocratic society dominated by nobility and wealth. Starfleet commissions, promotions, and even starships are privately purchased by wealthy families, with social standing determining status far more than merit or ability.
  • Alternate Reality C-936-V – A reality where humanity made first contact with the Betazoids instead of the Vulcans after Lilly Sloane completed Earth’s first warp flight following Zefram Cochrane’s death. Without many of the major conflicts that shaped the Prime Universe, the Federation became smaller, more peaceful, technologically stagnant in military capabilities, and dangerously unprepared for the devastating invasions it later faced.
  • Shattered Link Reality – A reality where the Dominion achieved total victory in the Dominion War after Federation forces failed to prevent Dominion reinforcements from crossing the Bajoran Wormhole. The Federation collapsed, the Klingon Empire was devastated, and the Alpha and Beta Quadrants fell under brutal Dominion rule, all while the Founders themselves were ultimately wiped out by the morphogenic virus and replaced by a ruthless new Vorta-led regime.
  • Gallo-Celtic Parallel Universe - A reality where human civilisation developed along radically different cultural and political lines, heavily influenced by enduring Gallo-Celtic traditions and societies rather than those dominant in the Prime Universe. Much of what is known about this universe comes from survivors displaced across multiple periods of its history.
  • Jem'Hadar Zealots Universe – A reality where the Dominion War ended without the Founders receiving a cure for the morphogenic virus, leading to the extinction of both the Founders and eventually the Vorta leadership caste. In the aftermath, the Alpha Quadrant was left scarred by the destruction of Cardassia, while fragmented bands of fanatical Jem'Hadar continued waging an endless war in the name of their dead gods.
  • Jump Drive Reality – A reality where warp drive was never developed due to radically different subspace physics, leading interstellar civilisations to instead rely on massive “jump drive” technology powered by enormous dilithium crystal systems. Although many historical events and powers resemble those of the Prime Universe, starship design, exploration, and faster-than-light travel evolved along a dramatically different technological path.
  • Quantum Reality Alpha-Dominion-032 – A reality where the Dominion War never ended after the Bajoran Wormhole was never successfully mined, allowing endless Dominion reinforcements to pour into the Alpha Quadrant. After thirty years of continuous war, the Federation and Klingon Empire evolved into a deeply militarised joint alliance focused entirely on survival against an entrenched Dominion empire.
  • The Hive Reality – A reality where the Borg successfully assimilated Earth following the Battle of Wolf 359 after Locutus remained within the Collective and the USS Enterprise-D failed to stop them. Rather than conquering through open force alone, the Borg transformed the Federation into a vast artificial utopia where entire populations lived in simulated perfection while unknowingly serving as biological processors for the Hive.
  • Requiem Imperium Reality – A reality where the brutal K'Zhit Alliance rose from the collapse of the Gorn Empire and conquered much of the galaxy through terror, slavery, and religious fanaticism. The Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Dominion, and even the Borg were either destroyed, subjugated, or shattered beneath the Alliance’s expansionist rule.
  • Terra Prime Universe – A reality where anti-alien extremism and xenophobia became politically accepted on Earth following World War III, allowing the Terra Prime movement to grow into a legitimate political power rather than a terrorist organisation. Humanity’s distrust of alien species severely weakened interstellar cooperation and threatened the very formation of the Coalition of Planets and, ultimately, the United Federation of Planets itself.
  • The Contaminated Universe – A reality where the parasitic creatures that infiltrated Starfleet in 2364 were never discovered, allowing them to secretly assimilate the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Cardassian Union from within. Over time, the galaxy evolved into a hidden, hive-controlled society in which entire governments and populations unknowingly served a parasitic collective while maintaining the illusion of peace and normality.
  • The Futility Timeline – An alternate future reality where the Borg discovered an Iconian Gateway linking the Delta and Gamma Quadrants, allowing them to assimilate the Dominion and launch a devastating multi-quadrant war. Although the Borg were eventually defeated, the conflict left the Federation morally and physically shattered, with Omega-based weapons devastating subspace and much of the galaxy reduced to ruin and permanent wartime survival.
  • Theta 9 Prime Timeline – An alternate timeline where the Borg successfully assimilated Earth during their temporal incursion to 2063 after preventing Zefram Cochrane’s warp flight and first contact with the Vulcans. Without the Federation ever forming, Earth became an isolated Borg-controlled industrial world, while scattered human resistance movements struggled to survive beneath the remains of assimilated civilisation.
  • Trust Profile Reality – A reality where the Augments won the Eugenics Wars and established a human supremacist regime known as the Hierarchy, governed through a rigid societal ranking system called the Trust Profile. Without the Federation ever forming, humanity evolved into a militarised expansionist power focused on genetic superiority, while rival interstellar powers formed loose alliances to resist Human dominance.
