USS Carlsbad

The USS Carlsbad (NCC-73110) is a California-class Federation starship operating as part of the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17.

History

During a routine supply mission between Starbase 72 and Starbase Bravo, the Carlsbad encountered a comet that unexpectedly pulled the ship into an Underspace tunnel. The vessel escaped the anomaly but was left heavily damaged and stranded over 560 light-years from Federation space.

While conducting repairs, the crew discovered the wreckage of the missing Akira-class starship USS Thunderdragon. Investigating escape pod signals led the Carlsbad to a nearby Class M world inhabited by a colony of former Borg drones known as the Kyrennei, led by Kaelara.

As Vaadwaur Supremacy forces began exploiting Underspace tunnels in the region, Skyrunner and the Kyrennei formed an alliance. Using a dormant Borg battle group hidden within the Murasaki 312 nebula, the Carlsbad launched an operation to capture a Vaadwaur Blackout Station. The mission succeeded, and the station’s technology was later adapted to prevent the Vaadwaur from using certain Underspace tunnels.
