The 'USS Discovery (NCC-92422)' is an Odyssey-class heavy explorer and has been assigned to the Fourth Fleet as Task Force 17's flagship since 2401. One of the newest of her class and one of the few constructed in the 25th century, she was launched from Avalon Fleet Yards and named in honor of her predecessor, a Century-class starship lost in the Delta Quadrant during the Blood Dilithium crisis. She was built with the latest technology, more specialized equipment, faster engines, and the best tactical systems in the fleet.
Operating primarily out of the task force's headquarters at Deep Space 17 in the Typhon Frontier, Discovery provides deep space support to Starfleet ships on exploratory missions ranging from within Federation borders to the edge of the galaxy.

Service History
Construction & Launch
During the later days of the ship's construction, it was named the USS Retribution. However, after the destruction of the Century-class USS Discovery, it was renamed to the latter. Shortly after its rechristening ceremony, the brand new Odyssey-class USS Discovery was launched from Avalon Fleet Yards in 2401 under the command of Captain Dawson. After a shake-down cruise throughout the Avalon system, the ship was assigned to Task Force 17 as its flagship. Its mission was to provide transportation for the Task Force 17 leaders, as well as provide logistical support to ships on deep space operations. She can also be tasked with ferrying ambassadors and flag officers across the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
Task Force 17's Flagship
After completing her shake-down cruise the Discovery was placed under the command of Captain Romaes Anjin the commander of Task Force 17 at the time of its assignment.

Operations
Flagship Operations
Since the Discovery was the flagship of Task Force 17, it was common for the second executive officer or even the third officer to fill the role of commanding officer. When acting in a ceremonial or transportation need however the ship was placed under the command of the commander of Task Force 17.
Starship Operations
Due to its designation as flagship of Task Force 17, day-to-day starship operations such as operations, engineering, security, medical, and science were primarily overseen by the Discovery’s captain of operations Captain Samuel Edwards, the designated second executive officer and captain of operations aboard the Discovery
Configuration
The Pier
Similarly to the USS Odyssey, the Discovery has a chevron section along the edge of its hull with its own promenade of bars, restaurants, clubs, cafes, and recreation facilities known as The Pier. Civilian members of the crew normally host these facilities with help from holographic hosts/staff. The Pier can host entertainment facilities for all members of the Discovery.
Club 22
Located along The Pier, Cube 22 was an establishment built during its construction in 2400. The interior design mirrored that of the Ten Forward lounges found on a Ross-class ship. After it was built, it was a preferred place among the junior crewmembers to go and hang out after a shift.
Cornwell Lounge
Located on deck five, the Cornwell Lounge served as the senior officer's lounge and mess. The Cornwell Lounge is built across two levels and is the most spacious facility on the ship. With dozens of seating areas across both levels, with varying degrees of comfort and privacy, the room is a constant hive of activity for anyone and everyone aboard the ship. People come to work in a relaxed, but active environment, or they may come to sit and read while people mill about and conduct their business. Food is obtained from several replicators around the room, while bar snacks and beverages are available at the bar, manned around the clock. The room's most exquisite feature is the large, floor-to-ceiling aquarium tank maintained by the science division which houses some thirty different species of marine life.

USS Discovery In-Play
- Discovery is the flagship of Task Force 17. Orders from the TFCO would come from this ship.
- As the flagship for Task Force 17, Discovery is often available to provide logistical support to ships on deep space operations. She can offer smaller vessels resupplies, repairs, and medical aid, or can conveniently take samples, guests, or other plot curiosities off the hands of a crew so they can get back to deep space.
- The Discovery is under the command of Commander, Task Force 17. If they choose to not use the Discovery then Samuel Edwards is the commanding officer.
- Involvement in the Discovery should follow the Task Force Writing Guidelines.
