Warp 5 Forward
More actions
Warp 5 Forward is a Federation boy band consisting of five young male vocalists from different Federation member worlds. Since forming in 2401, the group has built a following across the Federation, becoming known for its five-part harmonies, energetic live performances and covers of popular Earth songs from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The band consists of Theo McCallister-Reyas (Human), Harren Stail (Betazoid), Payn Lian (Bajoran), Nael Horren (Risian) and Luris Tomren (Lumerian).
Unlike many pop groups, Warp 5 Forward has no designated lead singer; all five members share lead vocals and harmonies. Their performances often feature new arrangements of classic Earth pop songs, introducing centuries-old music to contemporary Federation audiences.
Fans of the group are commonly known as Forward'ers and are known to come from many worlds across the Federation and other neighbouring states.
In 2403, the group embarked on a major tour of Federation worlds and starbases, including a headline performance on Colludia II that drew audiences from vessels and stations across the sector from the Fourth Fleet.
History
Formation
Warp 5 Forward formed in 2401 while its five members were studying at Pike City Performing Arts College on Cestus III. Initially performing together as part of their studies, the five quickly discovered that their voices worked well together and began rehearsing outside their college commitments. Their early performances drew attention across campus, and before long, they received invitations to play at venues elsewhere in Pike City.
The band’s name is a reference to the early days of Human warp flight, when reaching warp five was considered a significant achievement. According to the group, the name reflects their desire to keep moving forward, while also poking fun at how slow warp five would seem by 25th-century standards.
Rise to Popularity
Warp 5 Forward began attracting a wider audience following their debut release, which featured covers of popular Earth songs from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Revisiting music that was several centuries old proved popular with younger audiences, especially as the group brought its own arrangements and five-part harmonies to familiar songs.
As their popularity grew, the band began performing beyond Cestus III, with appearances on other Federation worlds. Recordings of their performances also made their way aboard starships and starbases, helping the group build a following among Starfleet personnel and civilians living outside the Federation’s borders.
Their live performances became a key part of their success, featuring elaborate holographic stage effects, choreographed routines, and plenty of audience interaction. Although their music draws heavily on classic Earth pop, the group has also incorporated influences from its members’ different musical backgrounds.
2403 Tour: One Last Encore

In 2403, Warp 5 Forward embarked on an extensive tour of Federation space titled One Last Encore. Beginning on their homeworld of Cestus III, the tour took the group to numerous Federation worlds, including Earth, Risa and Vulcan. On Earth, they performed at Wembley Stadium in London. By mid-2403, the tour had reportedly broken booking records across ninety-three worlds, with tickets for several performances selling out within minutes.
One of the tour’s major stops was Colludia II, where the group performed to a sold-out crowd of approximately 90,000 at the Colludea Grand Stadium. The concert featured covers of popular Earth songs, accompanied by holographic stage effects and choreographed routines. The performance coincided with shore leave for several Starfleet vessels, with personnel from the Odyssey Flotilla among the attendees. The concert also attracted considerable media attention from the Federation News Network.
Following their performance on Colludia II, the group was scheduled to spend two weeks on Denobula before continuing to Andoria. The final leg of the tour was planned to return to Earth and perform in multiple cities, after which the band intended to take a break from touring and return to Cestus III [1].
Members
Warp 5 Forward has retained its original five-member lineup since forming in 2401. All five members share lead vocals and contribute to the group’s harmonies, although each brings different musical abilities and interests to their performances.
Theo McCallister-Reyas

Theo McCallister-Reyas is a Human/El-Aurian vocalist and pianist. He is the son of Rear Admiral James Preston McCallister and Captain Karyn Reyas, both Starfleet officers.
Theo developed an interest in music from a young age and performed publicly before joining Warp 5 Forward. An accomplished pianist, Theo regularly accompanies the group during its slower songs and acoustic performances. He introduced the Earth song You’re Still the One to the band’s repertoire, having previously performed it at a wedding aboard the USS Odyssey. The song subsequently became one of Warp 5 Forward’s best-known recordings.
Harren Stail

Harren Stail is a Betazoid vocalist and founding member of Warp 5 Forward. Known for his outgoing personality, sense of humour and flamboyant stage presence, Harren often brings a theatrical element to the group’s performances, particularly during its more light-hearted songs.
Harren frequently performs alongside fellow band member Luris Tomren, with whom he has developed a close friendship and a popular on-stage partnership. During the group’s 2403 tour, the pair performed a comedic duet of Hopelessly Devoted to You, which became one of the more memorable moments of their Colludia II concert.
Payn Lian

Payn Lian is a Bajoran vocalist and founding member of Warp 5 Forward. In addition to singing, Lian handles much of the group’s musical arrangements, researching and adapting songs, especially those from Earth’s late 20th and early 21st centuries.
His work has helped shape the group’s sound, including their popular recording of "You’re Still the One." Lian is known for his dry sense of humour and confident stage presence; Lian often leads the group’s more theatrical performances. He takes lead vocals on the cover of Prince’s "Kiss," with the other four members backing him. During their Colludia II concert, his bandmates also performed a playful dance routine to the song while Lian sang. It became a highlight of the evening’s entertainment.
Nael Horren

Nael Horren is a Risian vocalist, guitarist and founding member of Warp 5 Forward. An accomplished musician, Nael regularly plays acoustic and electric guitar during the group’s live performances, especially during slower songs and acoustic arrangements.
He also plays several other stringed instruments from across the Federation, including the Vulcan and Bajoran lutes. Nael has a relaxed personality and sense of humour. He frequently provides guitar accompaniment while the other members take lead vocals. He features prominently in the band’s performances of Perfect, Need You Now and Love Shack.
Luris Tomren

Luris Tomren is a Lumerian vocalist and founding member of Warp 5 Forward. Known for his playful character, quick wit and lively stage presence, Luris often brings humour to the group’s performances and public appearances.
Luris has developed a particularly close relationship with fellow band member Harren Stail, and the pair frequently perform duets together. Their theatrical rendition of Hopelessly Devoted to You became a popular part of the group’s 2403 One Last Encore tour, with the two singers trading verses and acting out the song’s romantic lyrics to the audience’s amusement.
