The USS Sternbach (NCC-97942) is an Echelon-class Federation starship in service with Starfleet from 2399, currently assigned to Fourth Fleet.
History
The Sternbach was launched in 2399, one of the new Echelon-class starships. Notorious moments include:
- Being dispatched to intercept the USS Titan-A alongside the USS Cole
- Being present in the Sol System during the Frontier Day debacle and having a large section of its crew killed, including most of its commanding officers
- Taking part in a battle in the ch'Thyneal system as a Klingon flotilla invaded Romulan Republic space using the Underspace, in 2401.
The USS Sternbach was operated with a skeleton crew between Frontier Day and the battle of ch'Thyneal; in its aftermath, most of the crew of the USS Redding, which had been similarly damaged during the same battle, was transferred to the Sternbach.
Namesake and Legacy
The ship is named after a famed 20th-century human scientist.
