The USS Santa Fe is a New Orleans Class starship assigned to the Fourth Fleet under the command of Captain Sebastian Farrell, serving as the newly assigned garrison ship to the Federation colony on New Bajor. Having recently undergone a refit to bring the proto-galaxy up to modern standards, the frigate will operate out of the lone Federation colony in the Gamma Quadrant, representing Starfleet in diplomatic endeavours and spreading the familiar message of peaceful exploration and scientific research.
Design and Layout
Like the rest of the New Orlean’s family, the Santa Fe is one of the more unique vessels in Starfleet’s arsenal. As one of the proto-galaxy designs, the ship has benefitted from recent updates to vessels in the lineage, keeping her fresh and functional in her role as a frigate and garrison ship for the colony on New Bajor.
Benefitting from the unique design and placement of three, mission specific pods (two dorsal and one ventral), the Santa Fe’s mission profile has developed to allow the ship to complete a variety of missions in the Gamma Quadrant. As per the request of Captain Farrell, the two dorsal pods include advanced sensor equipment that boost the abilities of the ship’s science division. As for the ventral pod, an additional three torpedo launchers (two fwd, 1 aft), an extra phaser array lining the underneath of the pod and enhanced targeting systems have significantly augmented the Fe’s weapons compliment.
During her recent refit, the Santa Fe benefited from the installation of a newer, larger bridge module. As part of the new redesign, the main stations of the bridge are focused in a circular shape around the United Federation of Planets logo emblazoned on the deck plating.
