USS Leto

From Bravo Fleet

"I am deliberate and afraid of nothing."
—Audre Lorde - Ship's Dedication Quote

USS Leto (NCC-81014) is a Prometheus-class heavy escort in service with Starfleet and assigned to the Odyssey Flotilla of the Fourth Fleet Operations. Under the command of Captain Thran th’Zar, Leto operates as part of the Themis Squadron, where she serves as a tactical escort and rapid-response asset in support of the squadron’s exploratory operations. Her speed, firepower and specialised tactical systems allow her to provide protection, interception and combat support when missions take the squadron into hostile or otherwise high-risk environments.

Design & Layout

For the article, see Prometheus-class.

While retaining the standard configuration of a Prometheus class, Leto has been adapted to better suit both her operational role and her entirely Andorian crew. Environmental systems throughout most crew areas are maintained at cooler temperatures than standard Starfleet settings, while guest accommodation and diplomatic spaces retain independent controls for visiting personnel.

Andorian influence is most evident in the ship's communal spaces, where traditional artwork, materials and design motifs have been incorporated into otherwise standard Starfleet interiors. The main mess and recreation areas have been configured to support a more communal style of shipboard life and serve as important social spaces for the crew.

To support Leto's tactical escort and rapid-response role, the ship also features expanded tactical planning and training facilities. Among these is a dedicated ushaan training area, adapted for controlled practice of traditional Andorian combat techniques alongside conventional Starfleet security drills. The space can be reconfigured for individual instruction, paired combat and holographic tactical exercises, allowing the crew to maintain both cultural traditions and operational readiness.

Shipboard Life

Leto operates on a four-shift rotation, each lasting six hours.

  • Alpha shift starts at 0600 hours and finishes at 1200 hours.
  • Beta shift starts at 1200 hours and finishes at 1800 hours.
  • Gamma shift starts at 1800 hours and finishes at 0000 hours.
  • Delta shift starts at 0000 hours and finishes at 0600 hours.

Unlike many exploratory vessels, shift assignments aboard Leto are kept comparatively rigid. As a tactical escort and rapid response ship, the crew maintains a high state of readiness, with departmental staffing arranged to ensure that key bridge, engineering, medical and security functions can respond immediately at any hour. Regular drills are built into the ship’s routine, with tactical, damage-control and evacuation exercises conducted across all four shifts.

Every member of Leto’s crew is also assigned to a predetermined position during multi-vector assault operations. When the ship separates, the commanding officer retains command of the Alpha Section, while the executive officer assumes command of the Beta Section and a designated senior watch officer commands the Gamma Section. Each section receives its own helm, operations, tactical, security and engineering personnel, with medical and other specialists distributed according to operational need. These assignments are maintained across all four shifts and regularly exercised, allowing Leto to transition into multi-vector assault mode without significantly disrupting the normal chain of command.

Bridge, Deck One

The Leto's bridge in its original configuration in 2388.

The bridge of Leto follows a compact, combat-focused layout, thus allowing the crew to respond appropriately during critical situations. Helm and operations occupy the two forward stations, while the commanding officer sits centrally, flanked by the executive officer and the chief counsellor or mission advisor.

Immediately behind the command area are two dedicated tactical and security stations, allowing the officers responsible for weapons, shields and internal security to work closely during high-pressure situations. Additional stations positioned around the outer edge of the bridge are assigned to engineering, science, mission operations and communications.
