If you can dream it, we can build it.
Featuring stunning views into space through the massive panoramic skylights, Britannia's arboretum is a popular location for many of the ship's crew to spend their off hours. With a number of winding, tree lined paths around the picturesque ornamental lake, Regent's Park is a welcome open space to a crew that rarely gets the chance to take shoreleave. The park is named in honour of the prestigious royal park in London, Earth and the airy and relaxing space features flora from across the Federation, with space for new plant life discovered on the ship's explorations. A popular feature amongst the crew and visitors are Lizzie and Phil, the pair of live swans that gently glide around the park's small lake, having become unofficial mascots for the ship's company.

In addition to its leisure purposes, Regents Park also serves a practical function for the ship's Science department who utilise the large space to undertake a variety of studies in the Biological Science departments. The Medical team also make use of the space to cultivate several species of medicinal plants and herbs for use in holisitic treatments. The park also features an attached complex of lounges and conference rooms, allowing the ship's diplomatic corps to utilise the pleasent backdrop for negotiations and celebrations.

The most forward compartment of Britannia's deck four has long been a popular location for the ship's company to relax and unwind. With impressive sights beyond the ship's forward aspect, the lounge was originally designated as the Junior Officer's mess but after a number of unofficial modifications has slowly become more akin to a classic pub than a formal mess. Over time, the open plan configuration and spacious pub has become a popular haunt of many of the crew members in their off duty hours who seek the relaxed and jovial buzz of laughter that echoes down the corridors. The walls are covered in picture frames featuring memories of the ship's adventures, including a host of faces from crew members current and past aswell as several trophies of the ship's service. The most dear to the ship's company is the slip of unassuming dark oak that hangs above the bar, upon which is emblazoned the ship's proud naval namesake HMS Britannia.

The Blackout
Early in 2402 Daedalus was assigned to the pursuit of Commander Bib following his apparent desertion and defection to the cause of the a cluster of the Exodus remnant. Departing at maximum warp from K-74 towards Pamack Base, Daedalus followed the trail towards the edge of Klingon space into the largely uncharted Klingon/Gorn border. After convincing the reluctatnt IKS Ho'Nang to provide assistance, the crew eventually tracked the signal to the nearby uninhabited Aldrina system where they began a large sweeping patrol alongside the Klingon vessel.

Unfortunately, the fleeing vessel left a number of booby-trapped decoys which caught the pair of ships by surprise, disabling Daedalus and caused massive damage to Ho'Nang. Following a number of innovative repairs and a dangerous space walk to the Klingon wreck, resulting in the rescue of several Klingon officers, the crew were able to bring Daedalus back into operation. With subspace communications offline and warp travel impossible as a result of the ongoing quadrant spanning Blackout, the crew opted to proceed to the comm relay at the edge of the system in the hopes of piercing the subspace interference.

Nightfall
Having spent several weeks at high impulse, Daedalus stumbled upon an underspace aperture that was stuck open following an unknown fault with a nearby disabled Vaadwaur vessel. As the aperture began to destabilise the crew took the decision to enter the underspace corridors in the hopes it would lead them back to Federation space. After several prevarious hours travelling through the corridors, they believed they were approaching K-74 and exited the underspace corridor to discover the starbase under direct attack from a Vaadwaur assault force.

The crew of Daedalus decided to engage the small patrol boat forces but were quickly at a stalemate, loosing their vital element of surprise. They devised a plan to board K-74 and reactivate the station's nearby defense satellites in the hopes of overwhelming the Vaadwaur combatants. Unable to withdraw form the dogfight they had unwittingly become engaged in, Captain Mellasitox opted to deploy Theta Squad aboard the waverider Icarus as they passed close by to the station's upper sections.

When the team successfully boarded the station they witnessed first hand, the brutality of the Vaadwaur assault forces as they made their way through the damaged station. After finding all their routes to the Operations Centre blocked, the team contemplated turning back and retreating to Daedalus, when they discovered a hiding crew member who offered an unrecorded route into the secure location. Unfortunately as the team entered the area they accidently alerted the assault team's garrison and a fire fight ensued.

Whilst Theta Squad was successful in defeating the small garrison and bringing the defense network back online, the Vaadwaur patrol ships departed without obvious reason, returning to Underspace. Daedalus was left to secure the station whilst aid arrived, the Blackout having lifted across much of the galaxy.

UNKNOWN ENGINEERING SHIP

The Thomar Expanse is a realm of promise and opportunity, filled with resource-rich worlds, new allies and scientific wonders to perplex the best of Starfleet. As part of the Ascension Emisary Division, USS is tasked with facilitating the realisation of these opportunities in a direct and practical way. Making use of its larger-than-average storage capabilities, additional engineering labs, fabrication facilities, and the ship's robust and reliable design, the crew of have a simple mantra.

If you can dream it, we can build it.

The Rook's Nest

The most forward compartment of Britannia's deck four has long been a popular location for the ship's company to relax and unwind. With impressive sights beyond the ship's forward aspect, the lounge was originally designated as the Junior Officer's mess but after a number of unofficial modifications has slowly become more akin to a classic pub than a formal mess. Over time, the open plan configuration and spacious pub has become a popular haunt of many of the crew members in their off duty hours who seek the relaxed and jovial buzz of laughter that echoes down the corridors. The most dear to the ship's company is the slip of unassuming dark oak that hangs above the bar, upon which is emblazoned the ship's proud naval namesake HMS Britannia.unspot Lounges

Theta Squad

Born from the Hazard Team programmes, Theta Squad has gone through several incarnations in a short period of time. Initially a rapid response team operating under Starfleet Science, they were intended for scenarios ranging from experiments gone wrong to unexplained phenomena. As time went by, the squad found themselves engaged in missions where they had to employ a much wider variety of skills including engineering, diplomatic and tactical expertise. Initially operating aboard their dedicated Aerie class transport USS Nestus they became a home for officers and enlisted crew who were, by nature, difficult to categorise and under the guidance of Lieutenant Maine, the squad grew in number will members coming and going as their careers and missions dictated.

The squad has seen several iterations since its intial roster and following the events of the Underspace Labyrinth where they temporarily served aboard the USS Helios they have returned home to Daedalus under the command of Lieutenant Commander Anyok.

Sunspot Lounge

Several of the booths feature impressive vistas into the space beyond Helios, holographic or otherwise.

The Akira-Class vessels make novel use of space to facilitate social areas for almost 500 crew members with limited space. Several large open plan messes combined with passing place style corridor lounges (taking advantage of lessons learnt with the Galaxy class) allows Helios to make use of normally wasted space. Nestled on the port and starboard trailing edge of Helios' deck 8, the twin sunspot lounges are one of the ship's more subdued and intimate social spaces, converted from small junior messes.

Fitted with a number of private booths and sofas, the low lighting and ambient music that spills forth from hidden speakers gives the lounges a more intimate feel for evenings of quiet gatherings and rendezvous. The twin lounges feature a number of privacy considerations such as inbuilt replicators in the booth's tables, holographic dividers and an all holographic bar and waiting staff. The focal point of each booth is a large aft quarter facing window giving unobstructed views out into space, which more than once has caused a subtle course correction to maximise a romantic vista.

The Orrery

Situated in the enclosed centre of Helios' flight deck, the Orrery is the command centre of the ships' flight wing and Heliades squadron. A modification of the redundant auxilary bridge, the Orrery takes advantage of the room's command and control systems aswell as the direct connection to the ships computer and sensor sytems to manage the airspace around Helios. With a number of dedicated stations for the management of Helios' vast shuttle bays and a live link to the main bridge, the Orrery acts as a CIC during combat but most importantly provides vital operational & strategic support during humanitarian and transport missions.

With Helios' recent return to non-combat duties with Task Force 47 and the Fourth Fleets return to a more scientific mission brief, the Orrery has recieved a permenant contingent of science officers into the duty roster. These scientists provide support to the divisions's exploratory efforts, utilising the ship's huge number of auxilary craft to extend the reach of the ship's sensors and directing their efforts to survery systems with suprising speed.

The Pynx (NEEDS A NEW NAME)

The Pynx is a state of the art diplomatic and conference centre located in the refitted 'battle module' of Helios, an attempt at Starfleet Command to highlight the peaceful intentions of the new age of exploration. At the cost of some of its torpedo capabilities the module has seen the addition of a large complex of diplomatic suites, each modelled after famous diplomats, a number of multi-function conference and meeting places in addition to a cadre of talented officers from the Federation Diplomatic corps. Throughout the complex holographic generators and advanced environmental systems are able to adapt the suites to cater for a wide variety of needs, allowing diplomatic meetings, conferences and summits to take place aboard the vessel, surrounded by glorious views of the cosmos at every turn.

At the centre of the complex is the main offices of the Diplomatic detachment and the high capacity transporter that connects the module with the rest of the vessel. Travel to and from the module is generally free to all crew-members of any rank, as the suites & multi-function rooms are often used as practice rooms and bookable spaces for the wide variety of shipboard activates.

Hypatia Suite

Situated at the rear of the module, the Hypatia suite's focal point is a set of expansive windows fitted with hand crafted glass from Tellar Prime; the home of many of Starfleet's greatest diplomats, providing an inspiring, unobstructed vista of the galaxy. Named in honour of the pioneering ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician of Earth, the Hypatia suite seeks to inspire whilst presenting a sobering reminder of how small we are in the grand scheme of the universe.

Kor Suite

Inspired by the dramatic statement architecture of the Klingon Hill Council chambers, the Kor suite is perfect for channelling the particular spirit of Klingon Diplomacy. Named after the famed Dahar Master and diplomat who served the Empire for over a century, the Kor suite is part conference room, part amphitheatre, with specialist acoustics designed by the renowned Ferengi composer Jeere Goold; a perfect stage for entertaining and facilitating more private discussions.

In keeping with Captain Tanek's insistence that all facilities are multi-use outside of mission operations , the various music and live performance groups of Helios have made the Kor suite their home away from home, making use of it's particularly beneficial acoustic design. The additional musical underscore has become a permanent feature of the Agora, much to the pleasure of the Diplomatic Corps.

Soval Suite

The Soval Suite aboard USS Helios, showcasing the holographic abilities of the diplomatic suite.
Named after the famed Vulcan diplomat and Ambassador to the burgeoning United Earth in the 22nd Century, the Soval suite models itself after the open meeting places of Vulcan where philosophers, scientists and ley persons met to discuss the topics of the day. In this suite the holographic capabilities of The Pynx are used to full effect with the warm, dry environment seeming to disappear into the distance, instilling the peace and calm of the Vulcan homeworld into all discussions.

When not in use for Mission Operations this suite also hosts the twice-weekly meeting of the vessel's hot yoga and meditation group, as well as being the venue for the monthly stargazing club whose bring and share BBQ has become a staple in the ship's calendar.
