The Dragonfly Emissary Division was a powerful component of Task Force 72. It operated under the command of Fleet Captain Geronimo Fontana, Starfleet. Fleet Captain Fontana commanded the division from the squadron station, Starbase 406. The division’s operating theatre was around the Former Demilitarized Zone between the Cardassian Union and the United Federation of Planets, a region that was once the border between the two powers.  This area has experienced recent chaos brought about by the violence of the Cardassian True Way, and the New Maquis has led to a challenging dynamic with the Cardassian Union.

The unit was disestablished in 2401 when assets were reorganised into the Montana Station Squadron.

Mission

The Dragonfly Emissary Division’s primary mission is to diplomatically work with the varying colonies to ensure supplies are delivered, security is protected, and colonists are able to trust The Federation again after many years of being ignored or receiving low support bordering on cheap charity. The division focuses on limited tactical operations, extensive intelligence gathering, repeated and consistent diplomatic engagements, and focused relief missions to help improve regional Federation relationships.
