Trill System

From Bravo Fleet

The Trill System is a binary star system in the Alpha Quadrant. Trill’s binary stars consist of a G-class star and a K-class star. One of the planets in the Trill System is a class-M world home to two sentient species who share a symbiotic relationship; a humanoid species known as the Trill and a non-humanoid species known as the symbionts.

Overview

Trill is a member of the United Federation of Planets with local governing authority belonging to the Trillian government. The main planet, also called Trill, is a highly developed class-M with sprawling cities, verdant forests, and vast oceans which appear purple when viewed from space.

The humanoid Trill evolved on the surface while the symbionts evolved in underground caves. These caves are still home to the unjoined symbionts, who live in pools of a milky substance, their natural habitat. The Symbiosis Commission is responsible for the joining of host and symbiont and provides care for both.

Trill is home to the Trill Science Ministry, one of the Federation’s leading scientific and educational institutions. The Ministry conducted experiments in the 2370s to create stable artificial wormholes. While the team conducting the experiments initially had limited success, their experiments ultimately failed.

Because of its location, Trill has found itself close to the front lines of some of the 24th century’s major conflicts. During the Federation-Tzenkethi war, the systems defence platforms were upgraded to protect the Trill from any Tzenkethi raiders that might threaten it. Only a few decades later, Trill would come under threat once more this time from the Dominion. While it was doubtful that defence platforms would be able to protect the planet from Dominion forces, they were upgraded again to reassure the population that their government was acting to keep them safe.

In Play

  • A Federation member for many years, Trill has become a major player in Federation politics.
  • Trill is on a major space lane. It has become a favourite stop for many freighter captains to help break up long journeys between worlds.
  • The defence platforms located throughout the Trill system have not been upgraded since the early days of the Dominion War in 2374. They are currently almost 30 years out of date.
  • Only a small percentage of Trill are joined to a symbiont.
