USS ibn Al-Haytham NCC-91965 is a Sutherland-class Federation starship currently assigned to Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17. Under the command of Captain Rwiana Vako, the ibn Al-Haytham has yet to make its mark in Starfleet. Only just recently launched, the crew have completed their shakedown cruise and the vessel is now ready to provide service in the industry of exploration, research and discovery.
The mission profile of the ibn Al-Haytham for Task Force 17 is purely one of science. True to her class of vessel, the ibn Al-Haytham is a mobile powerhouse of scientific capabilities. The vessel is capable of exploring and conducting research in remote areas of Federation space but will provide service where it is needed most, even if this is within inner and more populated regions. She can be an ally to smaller vessels conducting their own missions, called in to continue more advanced research on discoveries made by ships and crews or maybe passing off secondary research duties after being the primary vessel called in to complete tasks.
