House of Jutarg

From Bravo Fleet

The House of Jutarg is a long time ally of the 'Koloth Faction' of the High Council. It currently maintains a steady string of deployments with the KDF that is currently dominated by Toral loyalists and remains publicly friendly with the current regime on Qo'nos. Jutarg himself is currently the Deputy Chair of the KDF Construction and Armaments Council, and sits on the Admissions Board For the KDF Academy.

History

The House of Jutarg is an old and noble House of the Empire formed by the Second Lord of the Imperial Guard during the reign of the third Emperor. Up until the 2250s, they had been one of the most powerful Houses in military terms and had even had a member of the House become Emperor for a decade in the 5th century(1300s CE), but the trio of blows they suffered at the hands of; the augment virus, the petty squabbles that had led to all out House Wars prior to the reign of T'Kuvma, and the Klingon-Federation War of the late 2250s, had severely reduced their military power and influence on the council.

This eventually led to the loss of their seat on the High Council during the reign of Azetbur. Their situation was further exacerbated by the ineptitude of the vain and petty Keht'hag, the 63rd leader of the House who lost the Houses primary duranium and tretaburnium mines in a costly vendetta against a rival house in the 2310s. The efforts of the 64th leader, and father of the current head, led to the revival and expansion of the family shipyards and the begining of their long march back to prominence beginning in the 2350s. Jutarg, the current leader of the House ascended to the leadership of the House in 2359 at 34 years of age upon of the death of his father.

Jutarg led the House through the Borg Crisis, the Klingon-Federation War, the Dominiom War and the Gorn Incursions of 2393. To meet Gowrons demands for more warships during the Dominion War the House retooled its shipyards to exclusively produce BoPs, and by the end of 2375 they were producing an average of 2 B'rels per month. After a period of sustaining that pace to replace war time losses Jutarg made the fateful decision to switch 2 of the Houses 4 drydocks to construction of larger capital ships. Between 2384 and 2399, the shipyards of Caligar only produced 3 B'rels, 2 Vorcha Class vessels and a single Maht’ha, though a Negh'Var class vessel is also nearing the fitting out stages. The yearly list of Chancellors appointments for the New Year of 2403 saw the House seemingly returned to the status of a Great House of the Empire when Jutarg was named the Deputy Chair of a Minor Council, and the House was asked to Lead the Guard at Ty'Gokor. Overnight the House has gone from a powerful and respected minor House and not-so-secret vassal of the Koloth Faction, to one of the smallest Great Houses that must grow its strength and influence to remain recognized as one. Though they owed their return to that station to Toral himself, their support for the war never full throated.

Notable Members

Jutarg- Leader of the House and Commander in Chief of its military. Interestingly he inherited the leadership of his House at a relatively young age, and only achieved the rank of 'la(Commander) in the KDF, before leaving the service to focus on rebuilding the House's strength.

Bamet- Jutarg's daughter and designated heir. Currently on the senior staff of the House Flagship.

Prax- Uncle of Jutarg, leader of the 2nd Shock Legion aboard the Vor'nak. A Dahar Master with nearly 100 years of service as a warrior.

Kerak- A senior, trusted member of the House's inner circle, Brother-in-law to Jutarg and Uncle of Bamet. He served on exchange for 2 years with Starfleet in the earlt 2370s and again for 7 months in 2403. Was recently named the Seneschal of the House, and majordomo of Caligar. Is considered mild mannered and jovial compared to many of his peers, and represents the 'Liberal' side of the Houses political camps

Y'garn- The Captain of the House Flagship, and decorated hero from the Dominion War. He has served as the Commanding Officer of their Standing Squadron deployed to the KDF 4 times in the past 16 years in command of the ship. Abhors reports and other paperwork.

Brork- Cousin of both Kerak and Bamet, has a reputation of being socially awkward, and a hapless buffoon, though he was able to become a competent Helmsman after serving as the IKS Slivins Relief Navigator.
