Deep Space 17 is a Canopus-class station located past the edge of Federation space, sandwiched between Metron Consortium and Melkot territory. In a distant orbit around the remote Lioh sun, Its primary mission is to support long-range exploratory missions deep into the Beta Quadrant. The station lends its name to the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17; the arm of Starfleet entrusted with carrying out their exploratory mandate in this region.
