The Golden Apple is a bar located on the Upper Promenade of Starbase Bravo. Favoured by Starfleet officers, particularly the station's crew, it is a great location whether visitors want a quick drink or a night out, a raucous gathering or an intimate meeting, or to stay fifteen minutes or four hours. Some crewmembers bring paperwork or semi-formal meetings to the Apple, and it is common for department heads or shift supervisors to arrange work socials here. It is a place for any Starfleet officer to get away from their everyday work or the clamour of civilians, and unwind.

Location and Layout

The Golden Apple has an unassuming entrance on the upper levels of the Upper Promenade. Cosy and welcoming, the main bar is low-lit without being gloomy, with polished wooden floors and comfortable seating. Visitors can grab a chair in one of the quieter booths lining the bulkheads, on the hard-back chairs around the wooden tables on the main floor, or at the bar itself. The decor boasts a mix of modern and old-fashioned fixtures and pictures, and though the latter are an eclectic mix of aesthetics and symbols that may be mismatched or outright fictional, they contribute to the bar's overall quirky character. The staff are holograms, programmed to serve food and drink and welcome all customers. Algorithms as sophisticated as those of any holodeck program read the behaviours of guests and the holographic staff will adapt as needed: if engaged, they will banter and joke; if disregarded, they will provide service and give visitors privacy.

The bar is well-stocked with bottles of drinks from a hundred worlds, though can serve anything from the replicator. The main bar also serves food, and though it is all replicated, the establishment limits food on that floor to 'bar food': sharing platters, bowls of fries, nuts, or chips, bread and olives, etc. Drinks can be served at the bar, but to avoid crowding, holographic staff provide table service.

Because of its popularity with Starfleet crew, the Apple is busy all day round - someone is always off-duty. The area immediately around the bar usually enjoys a quiet buzz, with the more raucous crowds and atmosphere deeper into the main floor, around the larger tables and booths beyond the bar itself. There is an upper balcony level, a narrow platform running the periphery of the floor, which is a perfect spot to grab a table and watch the world go by or enjoy a more private conversation. This is also a favoured spot for some officers to bring paperwork away from the office, as the acoustics on the upper level make the noise of the bar a comfortable, but not distracting, background hum.

In Play

The Golden Apple is the setting for Bravo Fleet's first Discord RP setting, allowing BF members to write casual interactions together. Characters in this RP must be BFMS characters, but do not have to be part of the Starbase Bravo game - officers visiting from other ships can participate in the Discord RP. Other BFMS writing may freely depict the Golden Apple.
The bar is large enough for big gatherings and parties, but its upper balcony is also suitable for characters to sit alone with paperwork or hold private conversations. Sociable and shy characters alike may have reason to visit the Golden Apple.
Shift supervisors and department heads will regularly send new arrivals or work teams to the Golden Apple to get to know each other.
The Golden Apple is favoured by Starfleet officers - though civilians may visit. It is a great place for characters to raucously blow off steam, but it is not a rowdy location. This is not a place to have a bar fight.
