The USS Swiftsure NCC-97410 is an Echelon-class light cruiser assigned to Endeavour Squadron. She acts as a utility vessel providing support to the unit and its areas of operations, and a rapid response craft in times of emergency. Fast, well-armed, and with vast secondary craft facilities, Swiftsure is highly effective in responding to humanitarian crises or border incursions alike and often acts as the squadron's 'problem solver.'

Many of the crew of the Swiftsure, including her commanding officer, are young and relatively inexperienced. The ship suffered several losses to Frontier Day, the first captain among them, while other veterans aboard were elevated to fill Starfleet’s personnel gaps in the aftermath. As such, former XO Commander Thabo Xhakaza has been elevated to command, and has been charged with pulling together the young officers he leads, many of them relatively fresh from the Academy and survivors of Frontier Day themselves, to form a strong crew.

These young people are an integral part of Starfleet’s next generation, where newer officers must step up when nobody else can.
