The USS Redding (NCC-75578) is a Californa-class utility cruiser in service with Starfleet from 2372.

History

Over its more than thirty years of service, the USS Redding has served under a great number of Captains and has had a great number of missions. Of particular relevance:

- Being the only ship to maintain the outposts on the Tholian Border during the Dominion War - Assisted with the repairs of Stardock 1 after the Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg - Towing the HMS Bounty part-way to the museum at Athan Prime

Namesake and Legacy

During the 22nd Century there was a United Earth ship, the SS Redding. It was a 17-m long water carrier.

There was a 19-th Century Andorian ship called Redding. In Andorian, it refers to a sort of snow shovel whose surface is opaque. The reason why the opacity of the shovel is important isn't clear to non-Andorians.
