The USS Hopkins is an Olympic-class research cruiser that currently serves in the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 21. The Hopkins is responsible for the deployment and support of colonists from Starbase 611 to new colonies throughout the area. As an Olympic-class cruiser, the Hopkins remains in a hybrid configuration between transport and medical so that it can best assist medical emergencies that often plague new colonies as well as transporting colonists and supplies to their destination.

History

The Hopkins was launched in 2369 from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards as a medical cruiser and was immediately sent to Bajor to assist with the humanitarian crisis with the ending of the Occupation of Bajor by the Cardassian Union. The Hopkins continued to remain a medical support cruiser bouncing from one medical crisis to another throughout Federation space.

In 2384, the Hopkins was reassigned to the forces dedicated to the evacuation of Romulus in the shadow of the pending Romulan supernova. It was during this time where the Hopkins was reconfigured from a pure medical cruiser to a medical and transport hybrid. This allowed the Hopkins to both transport Romulan civilians but also treat them as they reached their new home.

When the Romulan evacuation was abandoned, the Hopkins was reassigned to medical duties and spent the next decade jumping from system to system assisting in medical emergencies. By 2397, the Hopkins was again turned into a hybrid configuration and reassigned to Starbase 611 to assist with colonization duties. When Starbase 611 fell under the command of Task Force 21 in 2401, the Hopkins also fell into the Task Force's purview but its duties remained the same.

Captain Qamraaa Molla, Commanding Officer — A Human female, Captain Molla is a medical doctor driven by the desire to help people. Commanding the Hopkins has given her the opportunity to both be a healer and a direct cog in the wheel of Federation flourishment.
