The USS Emden is a Constitution III-class explorer that currently serves as the flagship of Task Force 21. Inheriting its namesake from the Constitution II-class USS Emden, the current Emden has continued on the exploration of the unknown since its launch. The Emden is primarily tasked with exploring and charting systems flagged for potential candidates for new Federation colonies. With its powerful sensor suite and sublight engines, the Emden can thoroughly investigate any system it is assigned to.

History

The Emden was launched from Avalon Fleet Yards in 2400 under the command of Captain Jisro Kiex. The first assignment given to the crew was to completely chart the Galdonterre system for potential colonization. In the first year of operation, the Emden and her crew successfully charted three entire star systems.

Task Force 21 Flagship (2401 to Present)

As part of her duties charting systems for colonization, the Emden was selected as the flagship of the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 21. As a ship constantly on the frontier of Federation space exploring new worlds, the Emden was selected to represent what the Federation wished to project: a bright future.

Crew of the USS Emden

Captain Jisro Kiex, Commanding Officer — An unjoined Trill female, Captain Kiex is a lifelong explorer assigned to a ship of exploration. After spending most of her career in deep space, even being on the frontier of Federation territory is much closer to home than she is used to. Previous to commanding the Emden, Captain Kiex served several tours on deep space assignments on Galaxy and Odyssey-class explorers.
