The Dragonfly Emissary Division is a powerful component of Task Force 72: Diplomatic Operations. It operates under the command of Captain Wren Walton, Starfleet. Captain Walton commands the division from her flagship, the USS Dragonfly (NCC-83008), an Obena-class Emissary Explorer. The division’s operating theatre is in and around the Former Demilitarized Zone between the Cardassian Union and the United Federation of Planets, a region that was once the border between the two powers.  This area has experienced recent chaos brought about by the violence of the Cardassian True Way, and the New Maquis has led to a challenging dynamic with the Cardassian Union.

Mission

The Dragonfly Emissary Division’s primary mission is to diplomatically work with the varying colonies to ensure supplies are delivered, security is protected, and colonists are able to trust The Federation again after many years of being ignored or receiving low support bordering on cheap charity. The division focuses on limited tactical operations, extensive intelligence gathering, repeated and consistent diplomatic engagements, and focused relief missions to help improve regional Federation relationships.

These vessels work within the division to maintain stability, conduct diplomatic missions, and provide necessary support to local governments and civilian populations within the region.
