The USS Redding (NCC-75578) is a California-class utility cruiser in service with Starfleet from 2372, currently assigned to Fourth Fleet Command. It is under the command of Captain th'Dytek Sheven and usually lends engineering help to Starfleet and Federation outposts and infrastructures. It rarely sees combat.
History
Over its more than thirty years of service, the USS Redding has served under a great number of Captains and has had a great number of missions. Of particular relevance:
- Being one of the few ships to maintain the outposts on the Tholian Border during the Dominion War
- Assisted with the repairs of Stardock 1 after the Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg
- Helping with preparing the exposition at the Fleet Museum at Athan Prime
- Assisting the partially assimilated USS Franscini during the Borg resurgence in June 2401.
- Providing logistical help during the political campaign on the Tellarite-majority planet of Rellite in July 2401.
- Being trapped in the Underspace in September 2401 and collaborating with four other ships in order to escape it.
- Taking part in a battle in the ch'Thyneal as a Klingon flottilla invaded Romulan Republic space using the Underspace, in 2401.
