The Lungurn Fleet Yards is a series of dry-docks and stations owned by the Breen Confederacy that were originally built to support the Breen as they entered into the war effort alongside the Dominion in late 2375. Located in the Lungurn system, close to the Federation border, the fleet yards have always posed a possible threat to Federation security.

History

The Lungrun Fleet Yards were one of many joint projects issued between the Breen and Dominion shortly after the alliance treaty was signed. As the star system it inhabits has no planets and only countless asteroids (all of which range in different sizes), it was seen as a perfect place to build such an installation.

Thanks to Dominion technology, the Breen were able to build a bulk of the dry-docks in the system within three months. It took an additional two months of around-the-clock work to excavate a number of the larger asteroids to act as internal hangers. During this process, the Breen were granted the use of Cardassian orbital weapon platforms. These were deployed across the entire system. It wasn’t long until the fleet yard was operational to support Dominion and Breen forces. Though its run during the war was short, it did ensure that Breen forces could defend their border against the Federation and its allies.

After the war ended and with so many losses, the Breen were unable to keep up with maintaining and extending the fleet yards. They deactivated a majority of the docks or moved them to other locations that could keep them in service. Only a few of the weapon platforms were kept operational, while the detection grid was used to keep the system secure. Eventually, the Breen kept a few ships nearby or within the system to protect the fleet yards. The resources needed to keep it up were no longer available to the Confederacy.

Starfleet Intelligence uncovered reports in 2393 that the fleet yards hadn’t been at the top of the list as an installation the Breen Confederacy considered for upgrades or refits. Instead, Federation operatives discovered that an automation system had been installed across the yards. By doing this, every drydock and base was linked together via the same sophisticated computer system. The Breen had also adapted a Cardassian subspace power generator to provide the power requirements for every installation, meaning greater autonomy over controlling what was active and what wasn’t.

When the Lost Fleet reappeared, the Dominion forces were able to provide the Breen with the resources that were required to reactivate the entire fleet yard. Within a few days, the Lungrum Fleet Yards were fully operational and supporting the Dominion forces.
