Fleet Admiral Victor Murdock
The USS Miranda NCC-77000 was the Flagship of Fleet Admiral Victor Murdock, the first Commanding Officer of the Fourth Fleet. Commissioned in 2373, she was the second of the new Kelvin class.
Just after war was declared with the Dominion, the USS Miranda was lead a small task force which included the USS Nautilus on a raid of the Cardassian drydocks and munitions factories in the Felton system before having to retreat. While returning to the Federation lines, they located the debris of the USS Pegasus NCC-1702-A which had been destroyed while on a rescue mission. Most of the crew was recovered, including then Captain Mike K'Wor Bremer.
After returning to Starbase 310, Murdock was assigned to commanding the newly designated Fourth Fleet. The Miranda lead the fledgling Forth Fleet during the early days of the Dominion War. While most battles were called 'engage, retreat' actions. A few months later, the Miranda and FAdm. Murdock were reassigned to the First Fleet after Admirals Johnson, Ston, Romano, Okafor, and Tealok were all killed in action while trying to defend the Benzite system and leading failed counter attacks. The USS Miranda would remain with the First Fleet until the war's end.
After the Dominion War, the vessel was decommissioned following Murdock's retirement. During the Borg Crisis of 2381, Murdock came out of retirement and the USS Miranda was recommissioned. While helping to defend the Rigel system from a Borg attack, the Miranda was damaged and presumed destroyed. No trace of the ship was found, and no survivors recovered.
The USS Miranda is considered a retired/reserved designation. Such honors have been reserved for retired Bravo Fleet Commanding Officers. Future simulations in Bravo Fleet may not carry the name.
