}}The '''''B'rel''-class bird of prey''' has been the premier versatile multi-purpose warship of the [[Klingon Empire]] since its inception in the late 23rd century. Although the overall original design is over a century old, several rounds of system refits and upgrades over the decades and the ease of production have kept this design at the forefront of Klingon military technology. Because of these ongoing upgrades, the ''B'rel'' is one of the most ubiquitous starships in the Klingon Empire.
===Exploration and Science===
The ''B'rel'' class is not, by any means, a ship of exploration or science. The primary use of its sensor array is to track down and hunt targets. The ''B'rel'' has limited capabilities to survey astronomic phenomena and would be far more likely to deploy a probe and signal for a more capable vessel to return to the area for a more extensive survey.

===Diplomacy===
== 1 - Star Trek Online ==
Much like exploration, the ''B'rel'' has extremely limited diplomatic facilities or functionality. The ship is, at best, an escort for a larger vessel of diplomacy. Should the need for diplomacy arise, short of having a Klingon general on board, a ''B'rel'' would be most likely to report back to the nearest starbase so that a true diplomatic attachment could be sent in its stead.

===Engineering===
# Bravo Fleet has officially supported in-game fleets for Star Trek Online (STO) on PC (both factions), on XBOX and on PlayStation (Federation Only), which provide members with various resources and perks.
The ''B'rel'' is a simple design that follows the lineage of the Klingon-designed birds-of-prey dating back to the earliest years of Klingon interstellar travel. The design consists of a central body, a neck with a "head" at the fore, and two wings flanking the body. The ship is capable of three configurations, signaled by the positioning of the wings on the ''B'rel'': cruise (wings out), attack (wings down), and landing (wings up). Over the years the design has stayed the same while systems including the warp drive, impulse drive, disruptor cannons, and torpedo launchers have been refitted, upgraded, and even completely replaced throughout the designs history.
# Members may also earn ribbons for STO gaming in factions or on platforms where Bravo Fleet does not maintain an official presence.

Throughout the hundred plus years of its service, the ''B'rel'' has largely been one of the most well engineered vessels in the Klingon Defense Force arsenal. While visually identical throughout the years, several subclasses of the ''B'rel'' have sprung up as technological advances are made. As these advances come, the ''B'rel'' continues to get engineering refits class wide.
=== 1.1 - STO In-Game Fleet Management ===

===Tactical===
# Bravo Fleet maintains fleets for the following factions/platforms:
Typically used as a scout, the ''B'rel''-class is a ship that is dangerous by itself, utilizing its cloaking device to make attack runs on targets. The ''B'rel'' has also proven itself by being used during times of war in packs, or wings, for attack runs against larger, sometimes stationary, targets. Although typically outgunned by cruiser-type vessels, the ''B'rel'' is small, agile, and highly maneuverable while still being able to inflict high amounts of damage. This gives them the ability to hold their own against many other ships that 'outclass' them and also makes them the perfect warship for Klingon attacks on enemy starbases and planetary outposts.
## PC - Federation - ''Bravo Fleet''
## PC - Klingon - ''House of yo’ loS''
## PlayStation - Federation - ''Bravo Fleet''
## XBOX - Federation - ''Alteran Royal Navy Bravo Fleet''

===Shipboard Life===
# Members may join an in-game fleet with one or more in-game characters, also known as “alts” or “toons”, by requesting to do so in the Bravo Fleet Discord channel #sto-char-mgmt.
## Characters that do not log in at least once every six months will be removed from the in-game fleets to ensure there are enough slots for all members.
## Members who transfer to the Reserves voluntarily or through the AWOL process will have their characters removed from the in-game fleets.
## Character in-game biographies for STO characters are not required, but are encouraged.
# In-Game rank is based off of the rank achieved in Bravo Fleet, though it is not exact due to limitations of the game engine on providing only a set amount of ranks:
## All members will get promoted to a rank approximate to their BFMS ranking, with the following levels:
### Cadet/Bekk - Cadet ranks
### Junior Officer - Midshipman to Lieutenant
### Senior Officer - Lieutenant Commander to Fleet Captain
### Flag Officer - Commodore and Above
## As there is no automated connection to BFMS for ranks, the positions will be audited periodically to update listed ranks
### If there is a character of yours and you do not see the assigned promotion list please mention in #sto-char-mgmt
# Permissions for each in-game rank are assigned at the discretion of the Security Office, and all members have access to:
## Purchase from provisioned fleet stores and fleet shipyards
## Visit fleet holdings
## Invite non-members to fleet holdings
## Use of the Fleet Bank, the degree of which is determined based on rank

=== 1.2 - STO Awards ===

==Class History==
# Bravo Fleet uses the following awards in Star Trek Online:
The ''B'rel'' was developed in the late 2260s originally as a test bed for many new Klingon technology designs. The B'rel was primarily designed as the first Klingon design to use the newly redeveloped Klingon cloaking device, gained from the Romulans in the 2260s, built into the design of the ship rather than applied afterward. This allowed the redeveloped cloaking device to be deployed in widespread application across the Klingon fleet. This also, subsequently, led to the research and development of a B'rel-class that could fire its on board weapons while cloaked; a feat that eventually proved worthless and faulty in nature and was abandoned shortly thereafter.
## Campaign Ribbons
## Joint Action Ribbons
## Combat Action Ribbons

The B'rel-class was originally fielded in the early-2280s to replace the older Bird-of-Prey's that had been in service since the 2130s. The design was quite similar cosmetically, yet upgraded in nearly every way. When isolinear circuitry replaced duotronic computer systems throughout the Klingon Empire in the mid-2270s, the B'rel was given the newest systems and the potential upgrade capabilities that were far superior to that of it's previous counterpart. The first B'rel encountered by the United Federation of Planets was during the Genesis Incident and indirectly caused the destruction of the USS Enterprise before it's commander and crew were killed and the B'rel captured by Captain James T. Kirk.
=== 1.2.1 - STO Campaign Ribbons ===

From there the run-ins with the B'rel on the frontier against both the Federation and Romulan Star Empire increased exponentially. This was primarily due to the ability to quickly build the B'rel-class and rush them to the front lines. Well into the 24th century the B'rel continued to get massive upgrades after upgrades due to it's versatility and the original designers giving the B'rel massive upgrade abilities.

# A qualifying submission for this award should contain a screenshot showing the character's name, level and the activity completed as applicable, as well as the character's name in the gaming activity form's text box.

However, although the B'rel had been in service for nearly a century, it received it's largest litmus test during the Dominion War in the 2370s. As the Klingons entered the war against the Dominion they largely found themselves resposible for counteracting the Dominion's main arsenal: the Dominion attack ship. Originally the Dominion attack ships quickly overwhelmed the Klingon B'rel-classes showing clearly superior weaponry and tactics. However within only a few weeks the Klingons were able to develop new techniques for fighting enemies that were so unlike anything they had encountered before. Using Federation shield upgrades on their own ships, and a few tweaks to their weapons systems, the B'rel proved to be the match for the Dominion attack ship that they had never encountered before. Nearly toe to toe in every way, the remainder of the Dominion War was riddled with pure tactics and ship commander experience when the two ships every came head to head.
==== 1.2.2 - STO Joint Action Ribbons ====

The B'rel proved to be very successful against the Dominion attack ships; so much so that the Klingon flagship, the Rotarran, was a B'rel-class Bird-of-Prey. After the conclusion of the war the Klingon Empire upgraded some of the internals of the design once more, planning to continue it's use even after a century, and began massive ship building operations of the B'rel to recooperate their massive military losses during the war. While the B'rel is over a century old design it continues to prove to be useful, versatile and upgradable. Plans have begun for a new generation of Bird-of-Prey, but with the massive numbers of B'rel-classes out in the Klingon fleet, and their continued production, it is unlikely they will be going out of favor with Klingon captains in the near future.
# Joint Action Ribbons for STO gaming are earned by playing Star Trek Online in a group of Bravo Fleet members against environments and sometimes players too.
# Activities include:
## Task Force Operations or Special Task Forces
## Patrols
## Red Alerts
## Daily missions
## Story missions
# A qualifying submission for this award should contain a screenshot with proof that a qualifying action has been completed.
## Multiple actions of the same type should be submitted as a single submission whenever possible, as long as the same number of participants are in each instance.
## When submitting multiple screenshots of different types of content, each content type (Normal TFOs, Advanced TFOs, Story Missions, etc.) must be submitted separately.
# Joint Action Ribbons are awarded based on the following formula, where the multipliers change by the table below:
Number of Screenshots x Member Multiplier x Content Multiplier = Total Ribbons

During the Dominion War, the Klingon Defense Force was hit the hardest of the Alliance in terms of ships lost. Many of these ships for the Klingon Empire were of the ''B'rel''-class. However, because of the ease of construction of the ''B'rel'', hundreds more of these ships have been constructed since and continue production into the 25th century.
