Space Station K-15

Space Station K-15 is an ageing K Class Starfleet starbase located on the border between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. Constructed in the early 23rd century, K-15 has seen minimal support and maintenance for much of the past century, retained in service primarily to support civilian trade and commerce with the Klingon Empire. For several decades, the station maintained a purely administrative Starfleet presence.

This situation changed only in the late 2380s with the rise of the Sovereignty of Kahless and the ensuing Klingon political crisis of the schemes of the House of Mo'Kai. The proximity of K-15 to the Klingon prison world of Rura Penthe has seen the old starbase play a more significant role in local peacekeeping as a result; it is the last stop-off point for any Klingon insurgents, or other criminals against the Empire, if they are being transported out of Federation territory and into Klingon custody. While this role is largely bureaucratic, Starfleet has seen fit to expand its presence on K-15 to include more security and legal personnel.
