The purpose of this guide is to show you how positions work on Starbase Bravo, including which tiers gain access to which positions and then how those positions fit into the chain of command. For your very first character, you'll be selecting from Tier I positions, until you earn enough Duty Ribbons to advance through the tiers, as explained in the main [[Guide:Starbase Bravo|Starbase Bravo Guide.]]
+
Games officially by the Security Office shall be listed here, as per the [[Gaming Policy]].

To navigate this guide, scroll down to the area you're interested in, and it will list the positions available in each Division, Department, and Section. As you gain access to new tiers, you can choose to promote your existing characters or create a new character. You do not need to stay in the same department/section/division, either. Note: the rank guidelines are not precisely even within each tier across all of the possible position types, to account for some slight variation based on the nature of the particular position.

# Bravo Fleet has officially supported in-game fleets for Star Trek Online (STO) on PC (both factions), on XBOX and on PlayStation (Federation Only), which provide members with various resources and perks.
 +
# Members may also earn ribbons for STO gaming in factions or on platforms where Bravo Fleet does not maintain an official presence.

=== 1.1 - STO In-Game Fleet Management ===
Starbase Bravo's commanding officer is currently Vice Admiral Thomas Belvedere, dual-hatted as the sector commander for the Mellstoxx Sector, overseeing all general Starfleet operations in the sector not tied directly to the Fourth Fleet. He is assisted by Captain Javier Reyes, the Executive Officer. While Starbase Bravo hosts the Fourth Fleet's senior command staff, they do not generally interfere directly in station operations except in times of immediate crisis requiring the response of the fleet itself.

# Bravo Fleet uses the following awards in Star Trek Online:
In addition to the departments listed below, there are some personnel that are directly part of the Command Division and not a particular department or section. Deck Officer is the title given to command division generalists who haven't yet been assigned to a department, and in this role they assist as needed, especially by greeting new arrivals at the various docking bays to accept their transfer orders and help them get where they need to go. Watch Officers supervise Station Operations and other control centers in the absence of more senior officers.

=== Administration Department ===
+
==== 1.2.3 - STO Combat Action Ribbons ====
The Administration Department encompasses a wide variety of officers and specialists who make sure the paperwork necessary for keeping such a large base running is handled efficiently. This ranges from helping with crew transfers and the administration of records, to providing one-on-one support for officers in other departments and the station's command staff through the support section.

* The Records Section maintains the station's administrative archive, which contains every log created by every member of the station's crew, as well as the logs from ships assigned to the Mellstoxx Sector. They make sure that everything is filed and coded correctly, and handle everything from collating birth and death records to applying the appropriate classified information standards to various files.
+
# Combat Action Ribbons in STO are awarded for any action that pits a player against another player, with two or more BF members taking part.
* The Personnel Section handles transfers, promotions, enlistments, retirements, and other personnel-related matters. They serve as career advisors, as well.
+
# Activities include:
* The Support Section (sometimes erroneously called the Yeomanry Section) encompasses all of the stations hundreds of yeomen, who assist senior officers and other personnel in the completion of their duties, run errands, and make deliveries. This section includes both non-officer and officer yeomen.
+
## PvP Task Force Operations menu option under the minimap.
* Generalists in the administration department go between these different sections as needed.
+
## Competitive Reputation TFOs

==== Diplomats and Foreign Agents ====

As a major starbase, Starbase Bravo plays hosts to multiple Commissions from various Federation member worlds and Consulates from foreign powers.

* Federation diplomats represent the interests of their homeworlds to the CO of Starbase Bravo and to Fourth Fleet leadership, as well as providing some limited services to citizens from those worlds. Not every Federation world has a presence on the base, but Betazed's delegation is particularly large because the colony the station orbits was founded by the Betazoids.
+
# All members will join in as members, with the staff being determined based on the determination of the Security Office.
* Alien diplomats represent the interests of foreign powers to the CO of Starbase Bravo and to Fourth Fleet leadership, as well as providing consular services to their citizens. Not every foreign power has a consulate on the station, but as it is home to a numbered fleet, many do.
+
# As there are Clan Battles, any member wishing to organize one may do so at any time.

== Mellstoxx Sector Judge Advocate General's Corps Office ==

The Judge Advocate General's Corps Office provides legal services to the entire Mellstoxx Sector. These services range from legal advice and document production (such as wills, contracts, adoption paperwork, etc.) to legal defense and prosecutorial services for courts-martial. Judge Advocates advise the sector commander (who also happens to be the station's commander) who has the final authority to make decisions about whether or not charges will be issued in serious criminal matters. The Sector Judge Advocate reports to the Starfleet Judge Advocate General and advises the Sector Commander

=== Starbase Bravo JAG Detachment ===

Starbase Bravo's JAG Detachment is the portion of the Mellstoxx Sector JAG Station responsible directly for legal affairs related to Starbase Bravo itself. This detachment has an office complex on the promenade, and provides legal services to both Starfleet and civilian personnel on the station. In particular, this office handles the routine prosecution and litigation related to petty crimes on the promenade in concert with the Promenade Security Precinct. The Criminal Law, Administrative Law, and Civil Law sections are each led by an Associate Staff Judge Advocate, while generalist Staff Judge Advocates and Assistant Judge Advocates move across these areas as needed. Judge Advocates are assigned in prosecutorial or defense counsel roles as needed, with all of them serving on both sides of the courtroom as part of their duties. The detachment is led by the Supervising Judge Advocate, who is assisted by the Deputy Supervising Judge Advocate. This detachment reports to the Sector Judge Advocate.

===== The Judicial Process for Criminal Offenses =====

* Charging decisions on '''misdemeanors''' (petty theft, simple assault, most forms of fraud, etc.) are made jointly between the Senior Supervising Judge-Advocate and the relevant director of security in whose jurisdiction the event occurred, most often the Director of Promenade Security. These offenses carry a maximum sentence of thirty days in the brig, and they are adjudicated in a summary court martial (meaning without a jury) convened either by the station's Executive Officer or by the department head to which the accused reports.

* Charging decisions on '''felonies''' (aggravated assault, murder, grand theft, etc.) are made as recommendations by the Senior Supervising Judge Advocate to the Sector Judge Advocate, who in turn makes recommendations to the station's Commanding Officer. The Commanding Officer may also initiate charges under their own command authority for members of Starfleet under their command. These offenses are adjudicated in a general court martial with at least three command or flag-grade officers serving on a panel with the Station Commanding Officer serving as president of the court.

** Note: members should must approval from Starbase Bravo staff before embarking on a story related to the commission and/or prosecution of a felony, as it would involve multiple other members' participation.

==Strategic Operations Division==

The Strategic Operations Division is responsible for the external defense of Starbase Bravo and coordinating between the assets assigned to the sector that are not directly part of the Fourth Fleet.

==== 2.2.4 - World of Warships Combat Action Ribbons ====
The Intelligence Department is responsible for gathering information within the Mellstoxx system and the sector at large, primarily through the interception of communications signals (Signals Intelligence), through direct observation via the station's sensors (Sensors Intelligence), and from sapient sources (Sapient Intelligence).

*The Signals Intelligence Section uses the station's communications arrays to intercept all transmissions in the Mellstoxx system and surrounding sector, looking for patterns in who is sending messages to whom, the encryption being used, and direct interception of messages, when permitted by Federation and Interstellar Law.
+
# Combat Action Ribbons for World of Warships gaming are earned by groups of members by completing any PvP battles, including:
*The Sensors Intelligence Section uses the station's sensor arrays to keep a direct eye on all ships in the system and surrounding sector, where permitted by Federation and Interstellar Law. They are especially concerned with tracking foreign vessels within the station's area of influence, particularly cloaked vessels.
+
## Random
*The Sapient Intelligence Section uses networks of sapient people across the Mellstoxx system and surrounding sector to gather regional intelligence. This can consist of officers being dispatched to observe and analyse situations in the field, but also includes the developing, maintaining, and use of networks of contacts across the region.

===Starfighter Division Sierra Bravo Four ("Sentinel Division")===

As a major defensive installation, Starbase Bravo hosts a permanent starfighter division of 64 craft, split across 2 groups, and 8 squadrons. Starfleet frequently assigns pilots to this division for training in formation maneuvers and to gain piloting hours. Some pilots split their time between fighter duties and general small craft responsibilities. This is an officer-only division. Though a division, it reports under normal circumstances through the Chief Strategic Operations Officer, rather than directly to the First Officer. These fighters most often assist in search and rescue, scanning approaching vessels, and recon duties, as the Mellstoxx system is relatively sedate.

They each also contain a recon squadron of 12 Sparrow-class fighters. These squadrons are all broken into two sections of six. At any one time, three sections (one of each type) are on patrol and the other half of that group is on hot standby, switching with the other group every twelve hours.

*Starfighter Group Tango (SB4-T) consists of one bomber squadron of 12 Apsara-class craft and one recon squadron of 12 Sparrow-class fighters. This group handles patrols on the edge of the system and beyond.

===Maintenance Department===
+
# Star Trek Infinite is a 4D strategy game by Paradox Interactive that, beginning in the mid 24th century, gets you to play as one of the major powers you see in Star Trek to become the dominant force in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. It heavily borrows off the framework of Stellaris, but has unique elements to make this a Star Trek game through and through.
The maintenance department oversees the day-to-day maintenance of all systems of the starbase, including its hull and structural sections, its environmental systems, and all computer systems.
+
# Bravo Fleet supports gameplay and allows players to earn achievements through gameplay.

Games officially by the Security Office shall be listed here, as per the Gaming Policy.

1 - Star Trek Online

  1. Bravo Fleet has officially supported in-game fleets for Star Trek Online (STO) on PC (both factions), on XBOX and on PlayStation (Federation Only), which provide members with various resources and perks.
  2. Members may also earn ribbons for STO gaming in factions or on platforms where Bravo Fleet does not maintain an official presence.

1.1 - STO In-Game Fleet Management

  1. Bravo Fleet maintains fleets for the following factions/platforms:
    1. PC - Federation - Bravo Fleet
    2. PC - Klingon - House of yo’ loS
    3. PlayStation - Federation - Bravo Fleet
    4. XBOX - Federation - Alteran Royal Navy Bravo Fleet
  1. Members may join an in-game fleet with one or more in-game characters, also known as “alts” or “toons”, by requesting to do so in the Bravo Fleet Discord channel #sto-char-mgmt.
    1. Characters that do not log in at least once every six months will be removed from the in-game fleets to ensure there are enough slots for all members.
    2. Members who transfer to the Reserves voluntarily or through the AWOL process will have their characters removed from the in-game fleets.
    3. Character in-game biographies for STO characters are not required, but are encouraged.
  2. In-Game rank is based off of the rank achieved in Bravo Fleet, though it is not exact due to limitations of the game engine on providing only a set amount of ranks:
    1. All members will get promoted to a rank approximate to their BFMS ranking, with the following levels:
      1. Cadet/Bekk - Cadet ranks
      2. Junior Officer - Midshipman to Lieutenant
      3. Senior Officer - Lieutenant Commander to Fleet Captain
      4. Flag Officer - Commodore and Above
    2. As there is no automated connection to BFMS for ranks, the positions will be audited periodically to update listed ranks
      1. If there is a character of yours and you do not see the assigned promotion list please mention in #sto-char-mgmt
  3. Permissions for each in-game rank are assigned at the discretion of the Security Office, and all members have access to:
    1. Purchase from provisioned fleet stores and fleet shipyards
    2. Visit fleet holdings
    3. Invite non-members to fleet holdings
    4. Use of the Fleet Bank, the degree of which is determined based on rank
