The Shangris Science Station is a Jupiter-class station that operates as a research outpost in the Shangris system in the Deneb Sector. The station was constructed in 2364 and is the central hub for most of Starfleet Science’s efforts within the Alpha Quadrant frontier. Over the years it has hosted many conferences and has been a place where other non-Federation scientist visit to collaborate on a range of research projects.
When the Dominion Lost Fleet captured the station in 2401, its ample sensor array was redirected to scan and monitor Federation and Starfleet territory to observe military movements. Its use by the Dominion has been a major blow to Starfleet operational security.
It is far from the borders of the Breen Confederacy, Ferengi Alliance and Kzinti Patriachy. A majority of its population are Caitian, due its close proximity to Cait.
