This article is official Bravo Fleet Official Policy.

A Fleet Action (FA) is a club-wide event comprised usually of several smaller events (or phases) that tie together into an overall storyline. These annual events are meant to be opportunities for members to rack up a lot of activity in a short period of time and celebrate all areas of the fleet's offerings. A fleet action always includes multiple competitions and fiction writing opportunities, with both units and members in direct competition for one another for opportunities to place overall. They are the only opportunity to earn Starfleet Stars and Challenge Coins. Since the Echoes of the Tkon Fleet Action in 2021, battlefield promotions have been available in fleet actions to both the BFCO and each unit leader to promote a small number of members beyond the normal OCS rank guidelines. Fleet Actions are run by the Senior Staff of Bravo Fleet Command at the direction of the Bravo Fleet Commanding Officer, once per calendar year. They are the only time during which no member-run competitions may be offered.

Fleet Actions are not to be confused with Campaigns, which are not limited to once per year and which focus primarily on a fleet-wide fiction storyline. Any competitions offered during a campaign are hosted by individual task forces, not by fleet itself, and earn neither Starfleet Stars nor Challenge Coins.

Awards and Scoring

Unlike other events, Fleet Actions have special awards and a unique scoring system, which recognizes their rarity and importance. For more information on these awards consult the Awards page or the OCS policy.

Starfleet Stars

Starfleet Stars (which occur in Gold, Silver, and Bronze varieties) are the most prestigious competition placement awards available to Bravo Fleet Members, and they can only be earned during Fleet Actions. In addition to their reward for placement in individual competitions, they are also awarded to the three overall top-scoring members.

Challenge Coins

Challenge Coins are issued for every entry a member makes in a Fleet Action competition. Unlike badges (such as staff badges or academy badges), each fleet action's challenge coin can only be earned during that fleet action, and is considered in a similar fashion to activity ribbons or other quantified measures of activity for the purposes of medals and promotions beyond the normal weight of competition entries. Senior Staff members who organize competitions also receive a challenge coin for each competition they organized.

Overall Scoring

Each member's contributions to the fleet action are recorded by the Senior Staff and are factored into a scoring formula. This formula weights the number and type of competitions a member has entered and placed in, resulting in a score. The formula may vary between different fleet actions, but in all cases it recognizes a member's standing through quantifiable activity. A task force's score is the sum of the score of its members. The top three scorers are recognized with Starfleet Stars, while the top-scoring Task Force is recognize with prestige.
