The USS Olympic (NCC-38000) was the first Olympic-class cruiser launched in 2364.

Following a refit of the starship's deflector and holographic systems in 2400, the USS Olympic was assigned to Sarek Squadron in Task Force 17 of the Fourth Fleet. Launched under the command of Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey Holmgren, the USS Olympic was assigned a mission profile of independent research, hosting academic conferences and publishing the Olympic Journal.

As a founding member of Sarek Squadron, the Olympic’s primary mission was exploring avenues to a lasting peace between the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Free State through scientific exploration. To this end, more than half of the starship’s science department were civilian scientists from the Romulan Free State. Mission oversight was provided by Sarek Squadron's commanding officer, Captain Taes, in joint consultation with Science Minister Flavia ir-Llantrisant of the Romulan Free State.

In February 2401, the Olympic was assigned to Captain Peter Crawford and placed in the Mackenzie Squadron.
