USS Atlantis might not be the newest of the Argonaut Class starships but she is currently the furthest from home, having recently come under the command of Commander Tikva Theodoras and assigned to the Delta Quadrant. Their mission is Starfleet's truest calling - to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to bold go where no one has gone before!

Operational History

First Contact

Atlantis' first mission within the Delta Quadrant, aside from contact with the Krenim Imperium and a Hirogen hunter, involved a species known as the Tarelans, a pre-warp civilization in midst of it's own early space-race. The two major powers of the world of Tarela, the United Republics of West Torin and the Monarchy of Krem, both had developed space programs, with the Monarchy having an outpost on their moon when Atlantis arrived, but the United Republics having a slightly more developed program with reusable landers and seemingly high-capacity heavy lifters coming into service.

Originally intending to observe the world in secret, recording the landing of a United Republics lander on the surface of the moon, Telrin, the Atlantis was spotted by keen eyed astronauts using just their eyes as a point of light, prompting military and civil astronomers to search for the ship, forcing them to withdraw away from Tarela and halt all planetary observations. With communication attempts from the local superpowers confirming they'd been spotted, Captain Theodoras committed a potentional Prime Directive breach to send a message to Tarela, reusing their own sent messages, informing them they would depart, but offering a message of hope for them. From where they sent the message the crew of the Atlantis also left a calling card so only later would explorers from Tarela be able to get to the stellar body and recover the artefact - a steel slab containing the location of the United Federation of Planets, the name of the USS Atlantis and the names of the crew aboard at the time they left the Lauren system.
