The USS Tereshkova (NCC-89894) is a Inquiry-class Federation starship operating in the 24th Century. The Tereshkova currently serves in the Fourth Fleet. She was specifically built to assist in defence and security.

Design & Layout

Physical arrangement

The Tereshkova was quickly built and constructed, like so many of her class, at the Devron Fleet Yards. The only differences built into the ship was those systems that would support it further in its primary mission while in the Delta Quadrant. This included its own hydroponics bay, a larger mess hall and an increase in the amount of supplies and cargo it was able to handle.

Starfleet decided to arm the Tereshkova by installing its pulse cannons and micro torpedo launchers into the various hard points around the body of the ship as it was feared that those weapons may be needed. Alongside this, the Tereshkova has two experienced and well-equipped hazard teams assigned to it. They are the best of the best in the expeditionary force. More room was given over to these teams, this includes briefing rooms, additional armouries and areas for the teams to train.

The main colour scheme throughout the ship is grey, silver and black.

Shipboard life

The Tereshkova ran on four duty shifts. Alpha shift started at 0900 hours and finished at 1500 hours. Beta shift started at 1500 hours and finished at 2100 hours. Gamma shift started at 2100 hours and finished at 0300 hours while Delta shit commenced its duties at 0300 hours and completed then by 0900 hours.

All enlisted officers on board Tereshkova were expected to share quarters with three others, while those with the rank of ensign and who weren't department heads would have to share with one other officer of a similar position. The senior staff and those ranked from lieutenant junior grade had their own quarters, all of them coming in different sizes dependent on seniority. No civilians would be posted to the ship, due its missions being more tactical orientated.

Holographic ship-wide systems

Like most other Starfleet ships, Triton is equipped with integrated holographic projectors on every deck through every section to support the use of the ship's Emergency Medical Holographic program. However the EMH is not the only holographic program installed on the Triton. The ship is one of many ships in the fleet in being a test-bed for the new Emergency Repair Holographic Team (ERHT), which is designed to support the engineering staff during critical situations where holographic systems are operational in a dangerous zone that prevents a damage control team from entering without safety gear. The ERHT was made up of six holographic crew-members. Due to the nature of using the holographic systems, the hologrid which managed and powered the holographic crew ran its energy off from an independent power system away from the ship's primary fusion generators. Tereshkova was also equipped with an Emergency Command Hologram.

Support Craft

Unlike other ships of her class, the Tereshkova did not support the normal compliment of shuttles. Only three shuttles were assigned to the ship while the number of runabouts was increased to four. The sole reason is to give the Hazard Teams their own vessels to deploy from if needed.

Captain Nicola Duncan, c.2399

After its launch from the Devron Fleet Yards, command of the Tereshkova was a tricky one. Originally Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet, who commanded Task Force 17, wanted his first officer to assume command. Nevertheless his offer was politely turned down and instead Bennet took a suggestion from another captain who suggested Nicola Duncan. The former Starfleet captain had served as commanding officer of two other ships and had retired but remained on the active duty list. Bennet made the request and Captain Duncan agreed to return to service. This was good timing, as the ship was sent alongside other vessels from the fourth fleet to bolster Federation defences along the Federation-Klingon border. The Hunters of D'Ghor had launched numerous raids and attacks against Federation assets and Starfleet needed to respond. Having the Tereshkova in the Archanis Sector was key to the success of the campaign as Captain Duncan would go on to rescue a number of cargo ships and civilian crafts from being attacked by the Hunters.
