Breen Research Facility D-218-C is a small facility tasked with re-designing the Breen Energy Dampening Weapon for direct compatibility with Dominion warships. Located behind Breen lines, it is in a system with several starship maintenance yards.
From what Fourth Fleet Intelligence has been able to discern, this facility was previously used as a cargo depot. It has been re-purposed for this research because of its proximity to the maintenance facilities in the system. The facility is located in an asteroid field, built into a small asteroid that has been hollowed out to accommodate freighters. A jerry-rigged construction support frame has been added to this facility to support a Dominion warship, and this appears to have been taken from one of the maintenance yards and re-purposed.
Its location and purpose were discovered thanks to the high volume of subspace transmissions between this base and Breen military command. Security is provided by at least one Breen warship at all times. The crew complement and internal defenses are unknown, but given that it was not originally a military facility, it is anticipated that it will be less secure than a standard military lab. Indeed, there appear to be blind spots in the station’s sensors from the rock in the asteroid itself.
