Starbase 21 is a Starfleet Unity-class station on the outskirts of the Izar system. Primarily tasked with colonial development and support for the area, Starbase 21 also serves as a defensive bastion on the Federation frontier. The station started construction in 2399 when Starfleet dropped its policies of isolationism and was handed over to the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 21 in 2401.

History

Starbase 21 was ordered immediately after the isolationist policies of the Federation and Starfleet were dropped in 2399 in the fallout from the Defense of Coppelius and the revelation of the Tal Shiar involvement on the Attack on Mars. The station was ordered with the intent of re-establishing Federation colonization of the area while still being able to effectively defend the area being directly on the doorsteps of the Breen Confederacy and Kzinti Patriarchy.

Starbase 21 was assigned under the command of Task Force 21 in 2401 upon its commissioning, coinciding with the Task Force's reactivation and mandate of frontier operations.

Crew of Starbase 21

Captain Tibu Aipra, Commanding Officer — A Bajoran female who built a career in the Logistics division of Starfleet. Fueled by Logistics's order and logic, she ensures that "the trains arrive on time" at Starbase 21 and that the colonization mandate is efficiently provided for out of her station.

In Play

  • Starbase 21 is a state-of-the-art defensive bastion in the area. This is in contrast to Starbase 611, a much older station that is not nearly as well equipped for its mandate.
